OBJECTIVES OF THE FOUNDATION

The objectives of the foundation are mainly concerned with providing its service users with a supportive environment, where the individuals can reflect on their situation and take decisions about their own future. It also aims at supporting the service users by providing them with an adequate rehabilitation service, direction and surveillance in order to fully integrate within the community.

OUR VISION

The aim of the service being offered is that of enhancing the overall general safely and wellbeing of the community. This is expected to be fulfilled through the provision of a community based rehabilitation programme for prisoners. The program supports its service users to focus on changing their behavioural patterns, outlook and attitude, therefore becoming productive citizens, whilst refraining from engaging in any criminal activity

Our Story: About Us

THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THERAPEUTIC-BASED SERVICES

The underlying philosophy of the program is entranced within the field of Cognitive Behavioural Theories, which provide insight into explaining criminality, and are fundamental in various interventions designed at addressing offending behaviours. Many individuals in this cohort, tend to resort to emotional styles of coping with life stressors; therefore, the programme is designed to try to equip prisoners with problem focused coping strategies, by challenging their cognitive appraisal system, coaching effective thinking styles about their life situations, and encouraging changes to improve their lifestyles.

The programme takes on a positivist approach, therefore the philosophy of the project involves respect, discipline, responsibility and trust. Despite this, the individuals will be challenged or confronted as necessary on their negative styles of adjusting to life situations, but they shall be guided and encouraged to develop self-efficacy.

The service users are referred to as residents rather than prisoners, since the word 'residents' implies that they are already part of the community, hence emphasising the concept of inclusion and integration.

The programme is designed to cultivate this concept through a proposed structure, a tailor made individual care plan, where the formulation will help identify the main features sustaining ones` criminal behaviour, as well as providing necessary interventions and therapeutic input of different professionals.
